Sorry it's been so long since I've blogged. I've been busy being lazy. And not.
Richmond is starting to strangely feel like home. The school year ended really well, my students seemed to grasp the lessons I tried to teach them about their writing and a few of them are writing better at this point in their education that I was at University. Very pleased.
One of my students won the national schoolastics award for American voices and was invited to receive his award in New York City at Carnegie Hall. I was asked to go to, but the school was not able to assist with the trip and I was broke. But I have a gold medal also for being his adviser. STOKED.
So on holidays: I've been going to bed very late and waking up late or early. I've been by the pool a lot with Katie's dad Stan. I've been watching Heroes episodes back to back and loving it. I've enjoyed just not being at work.
I'm meeting lots of new friends and feeling kind of settled here.
Bec and Deano Clarke have been visiting from Aus. But we are about to leave here to go to Arlington where they will catch the bus to NYC again, so I will write about our adventures later.
I'm going to try a lot harder to be good at blogging, but those of you who have facebook, I have lots of photos on there already.
Later!
A leave of absence.

Well where do I begin?
Ok so it's been a terribly long time since I've posted! November! Since then there's been THANKSGIVING, seeing my first ever Preston concert in Carnegie Hall in NEW YORK CITY where I finally got to meet Robbie, OBAMA won the ELECTION, I've had my first Christmas here in the cold, with only a tiny bit of snow. :(This picture is in Central Park, NYC. Robbie, Preston, Myself, and Laura. Robbie is a champ, Preston and Robbie have been friends since their teens and he now lives and works in the UK. He can dance and sing and pa-pam-fa-yeuh. Killer comedian, and he doesn't even try.
Lovely Laura let us stay with her in NYC so graciously and is so fun and funny and a great pizza cook. I watched this gal make her own pizza doe and everything. Laura introduced us to the dead poet, a drink similar to Long Island Ice Tea, but far more deadly. I love them, but need to be a little bit less enthusiastic next time... We partied it up in the kitchen with Robbie and Jamie (one of Preston's mates from Yale) who is also a delight. Here we are in central park, having a romatic, yet freezing strole.
These are some of my students from the IB program. I was a chaperone for their science field trip to the Bio-tech Research Park in Richmond. It was kind of boring. The only thing they showed us was the Organ Doner Central offices. No dead bodies ... nothing. Here we are all standing around the main attraction - a water feature to symbolise the ripple effect one dead body can have on other lives. How morbid.
I'll just keep posting and commenting and then I'll have to blog better this new year.
